York University recognizes the critical role of school leadership in Ontario and has tailored the Principals Qualification Program PQP to meet the specific career goals of educators and future leaders. At York, emphasis is placed on leading with an equity lens, using critical reflection, and utilizing action research. The importance of the everyday work of the educational leader is stressed as relational and collaborative, always linked to communities of learners in their social context, both inside and outside of schools.
Any OCT certified Ontario teacher who has completed a minimum of five school years of successful classroom teaching experience in a school providing elementary or secondary education and meets the eligibility criteria as stipulated by the Ontario College of Teachers. This collaborative inquiry, informed by the Ontario Leadership Framework for Principals and Vice-principals, provides candidates a leadership opportunity working with students, staff, parents and the community.
The Practicum must apply to a school setting and be mentored by a practicing qualified principal or vice-principal.
The duration of the Practicum will be a minimum of 60 hours. Candidates must develop a proposal before being recommended for Part 1 and successfully complete the Practicum before being recommended for Part 2.Supernova

Niagara University has had at least one team or individual earn a conference championship in every year since The coursework is formatted into five modules with assignments and discussions built in to support exploration, research and sharing. For those teachers in private schools, the school must teach the Ontario curriculum, and the principal mentor must be OCT certified with principal qualifications.
Candidates in the program will develop their personal and professional capacity related to the practices identified under the five domains from the Ontario Leadership Framework Summer school principals and summer school leadership proposals are not acceptable. Concepts and issues such as leadership and program planning are the focus of Part II.
Candidates in the program will need to work with an OCT practising principal in a school teaching the Canadian curriculum to implement their leadership practicum proposal developed in PQP Please note that a grade of 'incomplete' may only be given for specific circumstances according to Niagara's incomplete grade policy.

Part I is an introductory program that includes coursework and the development of a practicum proposal.
