The video above shows how to replace blown fuses in the interior fuse box of your GMC Sierra HD in addition to the fuse panel diagram location.
Electrical components such as your map light, radio, heated seats, high beams, power windows all have fuses and if they suddenly stop working, chances are you have a fuse that has blown out. If your Sierra HD is experiencing electrical problems, you should always check the fuses first, because they are relatively easy to check and cheap to change. Some GMCs have multiple interior fuse boxes including in the trunk - the video above will show you where the interior fuse box of your Sierra HD is located.
If your Sierra HD has many options like a sunroof, navigation, heated seats, etc, the more fuses it has. Some components may have multiple fuses, so make sure you check all of the fuses that are linked to the component in question.Editoriale. levoluzione degli studi di management control: un

If it's continually blowing the fuse, check the harness and connector for damage, corrosion or exposed wires. If the amp is bad, it can overheat, overload, and blow the fuse.
Find all posts by DmaxMaverick. I believe the problem is there, I removed the wire harneses, and put back and put in a new fuse and it fired for just a second, then the fuse is blown They should be cheap from salvage as there's really no demand near as I can tell.
On edit: Which engine is this? LB7 or LLY? Built 1 working day after my birthday and delivered 7 days later. Find all posts by Kennedy. Look at your VIN. The 8th digit indicates which engine series.
Now that changes everything. Start tracing the engine wiring harness particularly in the area of the EDU, alternator and where it is tied down. The LLY for some reason has more than it's fair share of harness issues. My had an intermittent issue due to bare wires in this harness.
Strip back the loom and remove all the tape in the area where you saw smoke a good distance in both directions.
Replace the fuse and repeat. If you don't see where the smoke comes from, you should be able to feel the hot wire s if you're in quick enough. Also look for damaged, burned, discolored or hardened wire insulation.(Requested video) removing fuse panel covers on 2015 2500 Silverado
Thread Tools. All times are GMT The 6. While various versions of the engine have surfaced over the years, all generations of the Duramax are based on the same foundation.30 06 vs 8x57mm js
Each generation is more-or-less an evolution of the previous model, with improvements and modifications made as necessary to maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace and meet progressing emissions standards. However, like any engine or any complex mechanism for that matterthe Duramax engine and Allison transmission have some common problems inherent to their design.
Some of these issues can be prevented via modifications while others may be avoided by simply understanding the root cause s. The Duramax diesel is susceptible to fuel starvation and getting air in the fuel lines. This can be contributed to the fuel filter housing design and the fact that the Duramax does not use a lift pump.
Rather, the high pressure fuel pump injection pump is responsible for vacuuming fuel from the tank. It is quite common for the fuel filter housing to develop a small crack or let air seep in due to a bad housing o-ring or water-in-fuel sensor o-ring. It can also be relatively difficult to prime the fuel system once air has been introduced into the system, such as when the fuel filter is changed.
The to LB7 fuel filter housings seem to be the most prone to problems. Water pump failures for Duramax engine are somewhat common. It is not unlikely that a water pump will need to be replaced in the 80, -mile range. This seems to be inherent of the factory water pump design. Overheating issues with the Duramax diesel seems to be a hit-or-miss problem; some owners experience it, while others never will. Regardless, it's more common with the Duramax than other engines. Overheating often occurs as a result of a fan clutch failure, preventing the engine fan from providing supplemental airflow as necessary to keep the engine from overheating.
A water pump failure which is relatively common will also likely result in overheating. Premature injector failure was a critical problem for the to model year Duramax LB7.
If you are buying a used truck, be warned that not all engines have been retrofitted with the new injector design. The design flaws of the original LB7 injectors have not been characteristic of later injector designs.
However, Duramax injectors in general seem to be relatively sensitive to contamination and may fail prematurely if proper maintenance is not performed at regular intervals. It is extremely common for the injector wiring harness to chafe over time. This can cause a number of issues if the wires become exposed, including a no-start or rough running, lack of power situation. The associated trouble codes will usually reveal which injector s are affected and will relate to an "open circuit" condition.
Example: "Injector circuit open, cylinder 7". Often, you can verify the problem by wiggling the wires around the injector. If the problem goes away even momentarilyyou've identified the affected zone. Glow plug failure was a concern on the model year LBZ and LLY Duramax models, but the problem should have been long corrected for owners of these years.
In such an instance, catastrophic engine damage could and likely would occur. GM identified the problem and has reprogrammed the glow plug module to eliminate this risk. The truth of the matter is that there are no concerns regarding the aluminum cylinder heads on any generation of the 6. With over 1, Duramax engines on the road today, the aluminum cylinder head design has yet to be identified with any credibility as an inherent problem for Duramax owners.Wind sensor
The concept of aluminum cylinder heads on a diesel engine, which is subjected to relatively high cylinder pressures, is more worrisome than the reality. The head bolt design has proved sufficient in preventing the cylinder heads from lifting under the conditions they are subjected to at stock power levels. My Chevy HD won't start. Engine won't turn over with key at all. Batteries are hot. You can take a power probe and shoot 12v to starter solenoid wire and it will crank and run fine.
I traced that wire back to the fuse panel under the hood on the driver's side. When you turn the key to start, the fuse gets 12v but the starter relay is not getting voltage to the solenoid wire. Any suggestions? Can you swap with another relay to see if the relay is good? The starter relay has 4 pins on it. One is constant 12v. The other 3 show ground. You can take a power probe to one pin the one that is the wire going to the small wire on the actual starter solenoid and the truck will crank.
I have swapped the relays, but still has the same results. It's always the ground If it were a bad ground wouldn't it still not start when 12v is shot to the relay wire? May be wrong Just asking. I also hooked a set of jumper cables from the ground side of the battery to the starter housing itself with same result. Yea it has power but ia power going through it? Something has to turn the relay on. Its not on all the time or else the truck would crank all the time.In every possible way, the Duramax was superior to the outdated Detroit and marked a revolutionary turning point for GMC and Chevrolet pickups in the diesel marketplace.
The LB7 also appeared as the engine to adopt common rail technology, as Dodge would not implement its own common rail Cummins until the model year and it would take Ford's Power Stroke until to apply the technology.
The LB7 is unique to other Duramax models as it predates emissions regulations. As such, it's praised for reliability and has been regarded as a particularly economical variation of the engine. As impressive as GM's new engine platform appeared, the LB7 had terrible problems with fuel injectors failing.
In fact, injector failures were so frequent that GM was forced to recall the poorly designed units and replace them with an updated design.
In order to provide loyal customers with a sense of reassurance, the factory warranty was extended to cover the new injectors for up tomiles. Despite injector troubles, the Duramax was featured in Ward's "10 Best Engines" for the and model years. Potential buyers were immediately concerned with regard to the Duramax's aluminum heads, and for nearly a decade owners of competitor's pickups would gripe about their distrust for the alloy heads.
However, head gasket failures or other related concerns for that matter are no more frequent on the aluminum headed Duramax diesel than other competitor's cast iron headed engine. Not only has the head design proven reliable, but other manufacturers have begun to employ aluminum alloy cylinder heads on their diesels in order to benefit from the significant weight saving. The LB7 was available mated to the Allison five speed automatic transmission or the ZF 6 speed manual transmission, with the automatic being a much more common choice.

6.6L Duramax LB7
As you all know, I bought a built motor two months ago as I windowed my block. Long story short, I put it all back together last week and finally got it to start on sunday. On first attempt running my old LB7 reg tuning it would not start.
It threw a few 3 P codes for the glow plug circuit A and 3 P's for air intake heater circuit. After I got the ECM in, it ran for minutes and died. In the 20 minutes of running, it had max rail pressure at idle which we attributed it to needed to scale back the tables even more and we ruled out a stuck regulater as rail pressure would come down if you increased RPM's. The P code I have a feeling that it was causing a major draw on the charging system and that the glow plug relay is shot and that caused my truck to die innitially.
Thats what I gathered with my searching. So I unhooked the glow plug module entirely to rule that out. Also, in the process blew the 1 40 amp fuse in the main fuse box after trying to jump start the truck after killing the battery. Not sure why that happened? It hasnt blown since, but now the only code I get is a U lost communication with instrument panel code and still no start. I do have a very odd buzzing noise coming from somewhere and I cant seem to track it down.
Can anyone say for sure if a CP3 can buzz? When I pull hte fuse, it sounds like its coming from one of the CP3's and its even transmitting a vibration troughout many parts of the motor that I can feel? WTF Video of buzzing noise. Sorry for the swearing. I do not know where to go from here. I have even bought a brand new battery today as I read that some have attributed a "buzzing noise" to bad plates in a battery. Im ready for a some gasoline and a match.
I have my buddy coming down tomorrow with his LB7 and we are going to double check that everything is hooked up correctly to rule out any chance of that causing this.
The truck ran for 20 minutes and its killing me that I have all these isses after the fact.
